Our online courses are a great way to learn new skills for anyone who is currently unemployed and searching for employment, hindered by lockdown. Proof of this is one of InterLearn’s latest success stories, Lucy Gibbs, who has recently completed a Level 2 in Business Administration.
Speaking about the reasons why she first decided to enrol onto the course, Lucy told us, ‘due to the Coronavirus lockdown I was struggling to find work. I was contacted by InterLearn asking if I would be interested in completing an online course,. I felt this was a productive and constructive course to complete during my time at home, and would put me in a more competitive position when pursuing future career opportunities.’
Having previously worked in roles in food production and the outdoor industry through Manor Adventure and Camp America, she spoke to her family about the opportunity of completing one of our online courses who felt it was a good idea and encouraged her to choose a subject area that would help benefit her in finding long-term career opportunities post lockdown.
When we asked Lucy about the highlights of the programme so far, she expressed, ‘the flexibility of the course was great as I could work through each section at my own pace from the comfort of my home. The course and content were simple to follow, and it was also massively helpful having a course tutor I could contact and get feedback from throughout.’ Reflecting on what she has taken away from this course, she went on to say ‘I now know I am capable of learning away from a classroom environment, organising my time effectively to complete the coursework set.’
When we asked Lucy what advice she would give to those who have found themselves in a similar position, she said, ‘it is definitely worthwhile. You get all the support you need while learning new skills to improve future career opportunities.’
Having just completed the course, Lucy is currently looking for long-term career opportunities in childcare or supporting vulnerable children in different environments. We are definitely excited to see where her career goes and know with Lucy’s hard work and determination that anything is possible!
